It’s Not “Who Am I” but “WHOSE AM I”

There’s a song i used to love to listen to back in the early aughts. The song was beautiful and lyrical and I loved the words until I really listened. “Who Am I?” David asked a similar question in Psalms 8:4, “What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you are for him?” As a Christian, with the Word of God and the promises of our Father at hand, it’s a question we should know the answer to. And as we stare down the beginning of another year, as we lay out our vision, dreams, and desires, I feel like the more important question… the question that in itself answers the first is, “WHOSE am I?”

In case you need a reminder:

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10

“For we are members of the of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.” Ephesians 5:30

“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21

It’s time that the church settle in her mind, once and for all, whose we are. Are we the glorious, victorious, overcoming, blood-bought church? I know my answer. Yes. Absolutely. If Christ is our dwelling place, then we are God’s, no question.. Isaiah 43:1 tells us, “Fear not, for i have redeemed you; I have called you by my name.”

As we move through this next year, keep this statement in the forefront of your mind, and in the deepest recesses of your heart. We. Are. His. Period. If that is the case, and it is, then nothing else matters.

I would highly encourage, if you are struggling in this area, read the first 3 chapters of Ephesians daily, out loud. Because your ears need to hear it and your mouth needs to say it.
