God’s Broken Heart

Sweet little children where did you go?
It breaks my heart that we’ll never know.
Selfish lusts, bitternes, and pride
Have ripped you utterly, completely from sight.

When will we learn a child shouldn’t pay
For the choices and sins of a world gone astray.
May we see these little ones as You do, O God.
May we not throw away a life yet begun.

Why would we take the life of a child
And throw it carelessly, thoughtlessly aside?
We’ve lived our lives the way we wanted to live.
Refusing the gifts God has wanted to give.

Don’t we know that each child that dies
Is a glimmer that fades in God’s living eyes?
He sees each little one as a gift from above
Given by Him to supply us with love.

Let us look on these children
As rich blessings and not burdens.
For each-one is a blood bought heir
Cradled in Your loving care.
