Samuel had to learn the voice of his God and didn’t know it initially but we are his sheep and we know his voice — the voice of a stranger we will not follow. It was during one of those moments recently, where my mouth was shut and my ears were open, that God spoke.

Know Your Place
When I was a little kid I was as timid and shy as they come. When I was introduced to new people I was the one who would literally hide behind my mother's skirt, hiding my face. Of course, I was never in any actual danger but my little brain certainly thought I was! That … Continue reading Know Your Place
Christ, the Rock
For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?1 Samuel 17:26 NKJV As I was praying in the Spirit a while back, I saw a little snapshot in my mind. In the image I saw David from behind from the shoulders down. In his hand was his sling … Continue reading Christ, the Rock
God is Good but He’s Not In Control
I've noticed a disturbing trend. Our country is currently fighting battles with nature on many fronts, be it forest fires in the west, or hurricanes in the east. I've heard too many people say that God brought it to pass or even "allowed" it to teach us something. This is a comment on a Facebook … Continue reading God is Good but He’s Not In Control
Take it to Heart
It's sad when you have to visit your own blog to remember the last time you posted. This year has been one long battle of the mind. In some of my previous blogs I have written about the loss of our baby girl in July 2013. Well, in January 2014 we found out we were … Continue reading Take it to Heart
Bent, Not Broken
This week marks my 16th week of pregnancy. Little Bean is growing right on schedule for his or her September 11th due date. I have found it hard through this pregnancy not to think back to last summer when at 16 weeks we found out the little girl we were expecting had died a week … Continue reading Bent, Not Broken
Identity Crisis
Let me start by saying that God is not the devil. I know what you're thinking... Duh, I know that! But do you really? I have a feeling that if God could go through an identity crisis He certainly would when people attribute the works of the devil to Him. Jesus said in John 10:10 … Continue reading Identity Crisis
Condemnation vs. Conviction
I think these days many people confuse condemnation with conviction. Condemnation points only to a problem, giving no answer. Conviction shows you the problem with the answer. Condemnation points only to our failures. Conviction says, "You made a mistake. You failed. Let me show you how to overcome." "A father disciplines those He loves..." I think … Continue reading Condemnation vs. Conviction
Consider the Lilies
I dropped my in-laws off at the airport Monday after an awesome, week-long visit. We camped, we took part in the wonderful Washington State Fair, and we shopped until we dropped. They are such wonderful, down-to-earth, give you the shirt off their back kind of people and we always love when they visit. We hadn't … Continue reading Consider the Lilies
